For this period we completed our spelling test and then read a few chapters from our read aloud book “Stay Out of the Basement” by R.L. Stine. Next week we will be looking at how to write a letter.

Today we looked at the housing of Medieval Times. We read about the descriptions of the house and learned that a serf’s house is much different than that of a King’s! Then the students did their own research on houses and made notes.

MATH

Today for math we looked at telling time. We discussed the differences between an analog clock and a digital clock. We looked at what AM and PM mean and what the hands on an analog clock represent. We learnt that there are more than one way to tell the time. It could be 2:15, 15 minutes past 2, or quarter past 2! This is a great unit to assist your children with at home. Ask them to tell you the time, how long something will last, how many minutes have passed, etc.

LANGUAGE

Thank you very much to Melia who put together a slide show on Black History Month. She took the time to show the students her presentation and answer any questions they may have had. We also listened to 2 songs that Melia used to help demonstrate her point. Great job Melia and thank you!

Our stain glass art project turned out great. They are a beautiful addition to our classroom.  Thank you to Aryan for sharing his research on Medieval Times! We then continued to work on our dictionaries!

Overall I was happy with the results. I am sending them home so please look them over, sign them, and return as soon as possible. If there are any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me.
