MATH

Today the grade 4’s looked at ordering and comparing hundredths. They had to take fractions and/or mixed numbers and change them to decimals and vica versa! For example 7/100 = 0.07, 1 & 33/100 = 3.33, 0.24 = 24/100, and 3.78 = 3 & 78/100! Then they had to arrange a list of decimals in order form greatest to smallest or smallest to greatest. The grade 3’s have finished this unit so they worked on review sheets. Our unit test will be on Monday May 4!

LANGUAGE

Today we read chapter 11 independently. We discussed the comprehension questions and then the class completed their summaries and vocabulary!

U.O.I.

Today we continued our review. As long as they study this review sheet they should do very well on the test…these review questions come directly from the test.  We will be having our summative written test TOMORROW, FRIDAY MAY 1! The test will take place first thing in the morning as we have a special activity at 3:00 and I do not want my students to rush through the test!

Have a wonderful night! Enjoy the weather!!

MATH

Today we began looking at decimals. We had to change fractions and mixed numbers into decimals. For example 2 & 2/10 = 2.1 & 7/10 = 0.7. They also had to draw pictures. This brought about a review of place values, which was very much forgotten so it was definitely time for a refresher!  Our unit test will be on Monday May 4!

LANGUAGE

Today we worked very hard…we read 2 chapters and completed the vocabulary, summary, and comprehension questions for both chapters. We also did a review sheet of the chapter we have read so far.

U.O.I.

Today we began our review. I created review sheets and for the first part had the students complete the sheets and then half way through the period we began talking about it as a class. As long as they study this review sheet they should do very well on the test. These review questions come directly from the test.  We will be having our summative written test on FRIDAY MAY 1!

Working on our pegnuin worksheets!

They also had to list fractions from least to greatest and greatest to least. Our unit test will be on Monday May 4!

LANGUAGE

Today we took a break from reading the novel. The students completed two work sheets using information from the book. On the first page they had to use information from certain pages to colour a penguin. The second sheet involved using more information from the book or the Internet to fill in questions about penguins.

U.O.I.

Today we talked about mining. We read an article called “Last Man on the Mountain” which is about man trying to protect his home from mining companies. Then we filled in a pro and con chart about mining and things we can do to help restore the land.  We will be having our summative written test on FRIDAY MAY 1!
