Good afternoon everyone!

I hope everyone had a great night! Thank you to all the families who came out to support us last night. They did an absolutely fantastic job and they should be very proud. I know I am!

The wind whips through our playground, so please ensure your child is dressed properly! Please see our cold weather policy below!

Important information and reminders:

It is hard to believe, but the time is here already – re-registration is upon us! Re-registrations forms were sent home today. The deadline to re-register is February 9. After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve your spot today for grade 5!

A big thank you from the ‘Me to We Club.’

Today we watched ‘Arthur Christmas,’ finished the class clean, created a New Years picture, and thought about some resolutions we can work towards in the upcoming year!

Holiday Homework: due Wednesday, January 11. Student will not need to bring agendas to school tomorrow. Tomorrow they only need to bring back their spelling lesson #15!

Language – Students have been assigned topics for Japan, our International Mindedness Day project. Students are to complete research and have it ready for their return to school. Students will need to have at least one book and research from the Internet.

-Complete spelling lessons #16 & 17

Math – Begin practicing your multiplication and division, as we will be beginning this unit once we return to school. There are many good websites that have games such as mathplayground.com. You can also find worksheets online.

UOI – Students will become a news anchor and find a newspaper article or video online of a religious issue or milestone and summarize it. You will need to present your summary in the form of a presentation or a video. Please keep the original article, as it will have to be submitted. Please see paper sent home tonight.

I would like to thank you all for the support over the last 4 months. I am very lucky to have such a great group of students who make me laugh every day! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will see you on Wednesday, January 11!

The Annual Christmas Food and Toy Drive is now underway at St. Jude's Academy and will run until after the Christmas concert! We would like to welcome families to send in new (unopened) toys and non-perishable food items to be donated to local families in need. Food items will be donated to the Eden Food Bank, and all toys collected will be donated to the CTV Salvation Army Toy Drive Fund. We are also encouraging families to bring a non-perishable food item to the Christmas Concert as your 'ticket' to the show. Thank you in advance for your support.

Come one, come all to the SJA Parent Guild Auction! Classrooms and the Parent Guild have worked hard to put together some amazing baskets. From movie night baskets to Kate Spade there is something for everyone, so come prepared to bid! You can find the auction outside of the auditorium!

The Christmas concert will be taking place on Wednesday, December 21. There will be an afternoon show and an evening show. The afternoon show begins at 12:00 noon and the evening show begins at 7:00 PM. All students should attend. The theme this year is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ We have begun practicing with Mr. Oliver and the other grade 4 class. We are singing ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’ and playing ‘Jingle Bells’ on the recorder. Just a reminder that our costumes will be the grey school uniform pants/skirts, a plain green shirt (if possible!!), a scarf, and a winter hat (Christmas themed or not). SJA Parent Guild will also be auctioning off the baskets that each classroom put together and there will be light refreshments. It is bound to be a wonderful night!!
